I can help

I set up Gower Therapy to offer talk therapy to people who have long term conditions and those who have become bereaved, following nursing practice in chronic conditions management and palliative care. Gower Therapy has evolved over some years.

Additionally, I support those with other struggles, such as those requiring support with improving confidence, challenges with substance dependency (or those close to the individual) or life health coaching in various areas of improving health. I work alongside adults and young people, plus children from age seven years. I also work with family’s, carers and couples.

I am empathetic, compassionate and non-judgemental, providing a safe space for clients to share their thoughts and feelings.

If you or someone you know is experiencing a crisis and require urgent support, please contact the registered GP or dial 111 (Option 2 if for mental health). Samaritans contact is 116 123.

If you are experiencing a crisis and require urgent support, please contact your GP or dial 111 out of hours. Alternatively, call the Samaritans on 116 123. If your enquiry does not require an urgent response, please leave me a message and I will return your call.

About

My name is Rachel Woollacott and I work as a person-centred therapist, based in Swansea and Gower areas.

I have spent over 30 years working in the NHS. I trained as a nurse and later a humanist counsellor. I have over 10 years counselling experience, in addition to a wide range of nursing practice. Nursing gave me a detailed understanding of how conditions and life situations can have an impact on someone’s quality of life (and those around them).

Before I set up Gower Therapy, I was a bereavement counsellor for the NHS (working with adults and children). Currently I also practice as a Chronic Conditions Nurse. I began to recognise that people I was caring for and their families/carers needed more than physical assistance to help them to manage their conditions. Often patients and their carers need to talk with someone about what has been happening to them or their loved one.

Services

Person-centred therapy was established more than 80 years ago. This is an extremely effective module of therapeutic counselling. This therapy aims to help you develop a better understanding of who you are and why you are feeling the way you are. This works well alongside a coaching approach at times during sessions, particularly in relation to finding new ways of being and when wanting to make some changes to lifestyle or behaviour. Through greater self-awareness you will be able to explore different approaches to overcoming some problems.

I offer:

  • Online and Telephone Counselling
  • One-to-one counselling
  • Walk and talk therapy
  • Flexible hours to suit you

I am DBS checked and fully insured. Feel free to phone if you would like to discuss what you are hoping to achieve and how I might be able to help you. If you are happy to proceed with a therapy session, we will sign a contract setting out how we will work together.

Costs

Counselling costs from £55 per session (a deposit of £25 is required as part of the booking). Concessions are available depending on individual circumstances. Couples counselling from £75.
